⚠ Apparently there's a scammer sending out messages "offering a partnership" if people "verify" their account at a special link. They may use a profile icon that looks like the Mastodon logo with a headset.

The account is fake, the link is a scam, do not click on it. There is no "partnership" scheme on here, you cannot earn money for posting.

If you get one of these messages, click the ... icon on the scam post and then click "report".

Also seeing ID verification link scam being sent to hackaday.io users claiming that some new US law means your projects will be hidden from everyone until you click some off-site verification link.

Sorry to hear
😞😞 Please do report these and if you can see the option to forward the report select that option too, so that it goes to the server where the spammer's account is. (The scam accounts get shut down more quickly if reports are forwarded.)

Yeah, the same people did a similar scam when ID verification laws were popping up in Europe.

They seem to bank on people vaguely seeing stuff about ID on news bulletins, and using that as a cover.
