Thousands of sites using the popular #Ghost platform are now Fediverse compatible, so you can follow them from Mastodon etc 🥳🥳

Here's how to discover and follow them:

1. Go to
https://explore.ghost.org
2. Click category tab you want (swipe categories right to see more)
3. Click on a site to preview, then box-arrow icon to go to it
4. Copy the site's domain name
5. Paste @ index @ (domain name) into the search box in Mastodon etc without spaces
6. Click the profile and then "Follow"

Tested with Emojipedia. Your instructions said to copy the domain, but the sub domain was also needed.

So...
"
@index@blog.emojipedia.org"

It took forever before a result popped up.
No problem subscribing.
Only problem was that none of the five existing posts were visible, but I guess/hope new posts will work better

Thanks for the tip!

p.s. This doesn't work for 100% of Ghost sites, but it seems to work for most of them. It depends on whether they have Fediverse compatibility switched on.

p.p.s. I know the discovery process above is fiddly, which is why I've started manually curating good quality Ghost sites that are Fedi compatible on fedi.directory along with their Fediverse addresses. You can browse the ones listed so far at
https://fedi.directory/tag/Ghost and just paste the addresses straight into your Mastodon etc search box.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services This is an accessibility nightmare! When I went to the site, I saw slides and whatnot, but below that were normal links for the categories. I clicked on oneand it brought me to the list for that specific category. But each newsletter was presented as a button, not a link. When I tried to click on them, nothing happened. I switched from Firefox to Supermium but that didn't help. I am using Windows 11 and NVDA.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services unfortunately this does not seem to work when the "ghost" is not the index of a (sub)domain... for instance https://www.bio-sourced.com/blog/ I don't know what the right handle should be, then.
Anyway, would definitely be useful if they could auto-generate the fediverse handle as a link next to the rss feed icon... (though the rss feed also does not seem to work for this site)

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services This is one of the most exciting things to ever happen to the website/social media interface.

I'm already up and running at
@sam@bl.ag but am just waiting for a few more features before I move to having my sole fediverse presence via Ghost.

Yeah, I couldn't fit the word subdomain in the character limit
😅😅 so I assumed people would guess.

The first time you enter the address on a particular server it can take a while to resolve, but after that it should come up straight away.

As with all Fedi accounts, if you're the first person to follow from your server it may look blank but posts made from this moment onwards should start showing up when they're published.

Thanks for this headsup, that sounds awful! I can't find anything mentioning accessibility on their site either.

For what it's worth, I'm currently manually curating the good Ghost accounts onto fedi.directory at
https://fedi.directory/tag/ghost which is hopefully more accessible. It's unfortunately just a big long list in the Ghost category but the same accounts appear in their respective topics on the https://fedi.directory site alongside Mastodon and other accounts.

p.s. By the way, even if the handle is different, the @ index version should autodirect to the correct handle which is why I've included it in the steps.

Yeah, it doesn't work 100% of the time. As well as the directory/domain issue, some of the sites don't have Fedi compatibility switched on.

However, after going through hundreds of the ones listed it does seem to work for most of them so far.

As a workaround I've been curating the sites and adding the good ones that work to fedi.directory so people can easily follow them by just copy-pastng the Fedi address. You can see the ones I've added so far at
https://fedi.directory/tag/ghost
