Hey, welcome to all you lovely people! Nice to see you!

If you want help with using Mastodon and the wider Fediverse, feel free to ask
πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

I also run a website at
https://fedi.tips which has lots of easy-to-understand non-technical guides for new people.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, it is 100% fine to ask about even the most basic thing that you're unsure about.

You can ask by mentioning me, replying or messaging. (And yes I am a human being
😁😁 I don't use LLMs or AI. )

"the wider Fediverse"

I've never used Hubzilla. Is it easy to use by non-tech people?

I think I've seen Hubzilla supports closed discussion forums. Is that so?

Also, you can create events? If so, it would make using separate social media such as Mobilizon unnecessary/superfluous.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Some posts have a link at the end entitled β€œShow entire thread”. I’m curious how this is generated. I generally use Mona and there is no option for that in that app (I don’t think). Not totally sure it is useful but just wondered about it.

Thanks.

If you have an example of this it might be easier to see what's going on?

Usually you can see an entire thread by just clicking on a post and it takes you to the thread it comes from, but there isn't usually a message like that at the end.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I just tried to send a link to one like I’m talking about. However, when I pasted it into a browser to make sure I got the right link, then the β€œShow this thread” is not shown. Now I’m suspecting this is something Mona is doing, although I don’t know why. I’ll try to ask them.

If that's the case, it's probably a feature of Mona which is trying to remind people that the post is part of a thread.

On the web version of Mastodon there isn't a message like that, and people sometimes don't notice a post is part of a thread.
