@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I was also surprised that Mastodon accounts are automatically visible and follow-able on Pixelfed (for Bluesky, you need a "bridge"). Is this behaviour wanted?
There might be people who don't want to appear on all fediverse-platforms automatically...

Mastodon and Pixelfed are part of the same social network, the Fediverse. Many dozens of other platforms are too such as PeerTube, GoToSocial, BookWyrm etc. They all use a common technical standard to communicate between servers, which means people from different kinds of servers can follow and interact.
Bluesky is not part of the Fediverse, that's why it cannot be communicated with directly.
