@FediTips@social.growyourown.services Woot! Mastodon is now big and important enough to get targeted by scammers. ;)

p.s. Also, the link in the scam post will not verify your account. The scam link will just hand over your card details to scammers.

Genuine verification on Mastodon does not involve money or payment at all! Mastodon verification is a self-service process that works through owning your own website:
https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-verify-my-account

And Mastodon verification is totally optional, it's just there for people who want to do it.

Hi, is there a way to hide an instance from the federated feed, but still be able to see toots boosted by users I follow? Or even follow a single account from the hidden instance?

I don't think there is, unfortunately. If you mute an instance it also removes people you follow from that instance and hides boosts from that instance.

You would probably be better off muting individual accounts from that instance which appear in your federated feed.

Instance admins can "limit" an instance so that you can follow its accounts but not see it in the federated feed, but this would affect everyone on your instance.
