I have been participating in a breast cancer study for five years. A few months ago I was asked to be part of the group that will be followed for another five years. I didn't realize that the new phase of the study would require that I provide tons of additional very private information. Including a DNA test that would look for a genetic predisposition for many types of cancer. I let the kit sit for a couple of weeks because I think I was afraid to burden my family with knowledge of the results if not favorable.
I finally decided that because I am Wailaki I might be a unique participant that could be helpful. My trepidation was overcome by my hope the information gained could be beneficial to someone.
Yesterday the results arrived and I nervously opened the document to reveal no genetic link to 29 different cancers.
No guarantee but good.
Summer and I are doing our morning thing. She is soft, warm and full of love.
Good morning, Mastodon.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social What a good friend she is! Also, I see a fun-looking white streak right at the side part. Mine did that until most of my hair turned gray; now you can barely see it. But your streak is pretty!

I'm not very gray but could be the Munsters mom with my silver streak. My mother's hair was dark right to the end.
Occasionally people assume I dye my hair because of my age.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social I absolutely believe you! My grandfather lived until he was 90-something and never went gray or bald. The only stuff he ever put in his hair was brill cream. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
