Outstanding.

HS2's scaling back was a disappointment, but completing the in-flight phases, decarbonising the grid through doubled onshore wind, tripled onshore solar, and quadrupled offshore wind, expanding Heathrow, nationalising the railways, expanded housebuilding, new nuclear reactors, and massively expanded green energy infrastructure — plus this on top — will end up making this an outstanding government for infrastructure and transport.

Plus tons more smaller things related to road projects and individual lines.

I hope we do some new bridges too. I love a good bridge.

Also, I'm by no means a single issue voter and I'm pretty content with having to occasionally eat some shit in the name of wider party goals.

But this sort of thing? This is the closest thing I have to a 'single issue' that would dominate my political thinking. I'm generally on board with most of the rest of what we're doing (with some exceptions) but I could eat a lot of shit so long as this stuff's going ahead.

Blanket the country with nuclear power, lattice these entire islands with electric rail, build a thousand data centres, and surround our waters with enough wind turbines that not even a single mackerel could make it through to our coast and I could get on board with virtually anything.
