Some runs are trials of endurance. Tonight was less about physical or mental factors and more about overcoming environmental ones. Not really hot tonight (75Β°F/23.9Β°C) but the relative humidity was 93.5%. My point is I’m a sweaty mess and cooler seasons cannot get here soon enough.

Adding to my suffering, some animal died near one end of the track. Didn’t notice until I was underway. Every lap was an agony of decomposition. I reckon 1/3 of this run was with held breath.

@mlawton@mstdn.social that is such high humidity. Glad you got through it.

@obrien_kat@mastodon.world it didn’t feel so bad at first, but my body was struggling to regulate itself at the end.

I really don’t do well with humidity… and yet I’ve only ever lived in places that are super humid.

@mlawton@mstdn.social that’s hard that your body preference is very unlike the climates you’ve lived in!
On really hot days, like today lol, I often find that for the first half or so of my run, I’m fine, and then the heat/humidity crush me in the second half.
