Okay, but we all understand - pre-puberty kids wouldn't give a shit about porn even if you showed them. It'd just be "that's boring, can I watch Bluey now?" 15 years old and older? No technical or legal countermeasures you can dream of would keep kids who want to see porn from seeing porn.

So really this whole hullabaloo is because parents don't want to have the "this is how babies are made conversation", and then later when necessary, follow it up with the even more awkward but also important conversation - "how to have a safe mental health relationship with a world in which porn exists", and instead just try to use authoritarians to try to allow them to avoid the conversation until the kid is no longer their problem.

@JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange This.Thank you.

We went to great lengths to find and smuggle Playboy magazines from the news drop between the gradeschool and the church. We were thirteen.

@JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange This is exactly right. A little star doesn't seem like enough.

@JessTheUnstill@infosec.exchange I think it's a gateway to banning "queer" xyz (or just an argument for mass surveillance and ID-ing everything you do on the web), because "prohibition on sex work has made life sooooooo safe for sex workers" /s

@risottobias@toot.risottobias.org And the "war on drugs" has really made it impossible for anyone who wants drugs to get drugs...
