Who misses the old Linux Ethernet names? Remember when your network interfaces were just eth0 and eth1? Now we have long names like enp0s25. Let's see where you stand.

Clara@RadioAzureus@mastodon.social @nixCraft@mastodon.social I'm not saying it's not good, I'm saying that when you have something static and predictable, such as defined by the actual location in hardware (enp11s0 - PCIe device 11, service 0 on that PCIe device), that mitigates the risk of the device ID changing, which I've had to break in using IPMI one too many times to fix.
