If you don't have headphones you do not play media on your device in public. That's the rule. Don't be an obnoxious dick.

If that's a rule, it's one which hasn't been followed since the dawn of time.

@tankgrrl@hachyderm.io @Woody@dragonscave.space I was recently in a relatively nice restaurant, and someone at the next table was on some kind of video call using speakerphone. So rude!

@tankgrrl@hachyderm.io Even the Washington State Department of Natural Resources was shitposting about this

Everyone had phone conversations on speakerphone in public now too. Not sure what’s up with that.

@rk@mastodon.well.com I especially hate the "pizza slice" where they have it on speaker but are speaking into the mic holding it like a slice of pizza.

I truly don’t understand the point there. My guess is that it started as people emulating what they saw on reality shows, where the performers did it so that the audience could hear both sides of the conversation.

@rk@mastodon.well.com I blame the Constant Talkers, those people you see in public, at the store, etc who talk on the phone non-stop. I assume they either A) get tired of holding it to their ear or B) want to show how very important they are by letting you hear their conversation

Who are they talking to so much and for so long?
Even when I was almost a social creature I never managed to have long conversations with anyone on the phone.
Are they all talking to their therapists?
