Well that was weird. We have some Dunelm Alexis lights in our kitchen... And one of the glass dome things just suddenly exploded. Or, crashed anyway, whilst no-one was in the room, not windy, etc.

I have had it nearly a year, and I can't really expect Dunelm to believe me that nobody smacked it. It just went bang, and showered the room and dining table beneath in small- and large- glass pieces.

Exciting. I guess I'll just buy a new one and harvest it for spares?

@bloor@bloor.tw weird! some sort of internal stresses in the glass that finally gave way?

@ret@furry.engineer That is very much what I wonder. Yes. I have seen glass windows do it before, especially ones with "window film" on them. And this looks similar-ish.

Anything interesting visable with polarised glasses or sunglasses? Sometimes internal stresses can be visible with the right illumination
