Schadenfreude is seldom a positive emotion.

However, I will just allow myself a momentary tipple with it, just this once.

Can anyone remember the name of that UK firm who sells smart switches mainly for homeassistant where they've pre-replaced the firmware with non-shit firmware, such that they'll work better with HA?

I need four E27 LED candle bulbs for use with HA, and I wondered if they might sell them.

- OR -

Can anyone recommend an E27 LED candle bulb that works well with HA locally; i.e. not via cloud crap? Could be Wifi or Zigbee; probably mildly prefer wifi just now?

Well that was weird. We have some Dunelm Alexis lights in our kitchen... And one of the glass dome things just suddenly exploded. Or, crashed anyway, whilst no-one was in the room, not windy, etc.

I have had it nearly a year, and I can't really expect Dunelm to believe me that nobody smacked it. It just went bang, and showered the room and dining table beneath in small- and large- glass pieces.

Exciting. I guess I'll just buy a new one and harvest it for spares?

Note that this legal page is EASY to find on our web site. So one assumes the customer did not think to check it before sending out the terms.

I do really wonder how many companies simply sign their lives away to these agreements, without really properly getting them looked at? You know full well that although they are said to be informal, if a company was ever to break one in a way that mattered, they'd be instantly enforced.

So, yeah, push back. Is my main bullet point.

Customer : "Please sign and return back this 'Supplier Code of Conduct that we need you to sign."

Me : "We already have a contract. You signed up. You agreed. Your new code of conduct is six pages. We'd need our lawyer to read it, and highlight any new liabilities brought on by our acceptance of these six pages of new terms you want to impose. Can you approve up to an initial Β£500 to allow us to do this?"

Customer : "No."

Customer: "Please can you send us your latest code of conduct?"

Me: "We don't have any documents explicitly labelled as that, and that is rather a generalised title anyway. Please see our legal page, which has at least a dozen documents on it, both general and specific."

Can’t help feeling that, yet again, the government is really really screwing up by arresting for terror offences people carrying signs. The optics of five police all surrounding an old lady who has written a sign in sharpie is just fucking appalling. What on earth are they thinking? How does this help anyone? What is the stake I don’t understand?

And once vacuumed thoroughly and wiped all over with a tack cloth, first coat of oil applied with a brush, then left for a few minutes, before wiping away excess with a cloth. Changes the look of the thing dramatically, I think.

New desk edges all rounded over with a fillet bit in the router. Then sanded all over with a squishy pad and 80grit on a random orbital sander.
