A Buda Platelayer’s velocipede: an 1890s bicycle-like contraption with a third wheel on an outrigger that allows it to rest on the rails safely. There is a mechanism that propels the vehicle by pumping the handlebars. Atop the vehicle is a sign that says “I am old and fragile. Juno was an “Austerity” Steam Locomotive, built in 1958, from a 1940s design. The engines were designed to have a two year life span, but Juno lasted ten years in service. Some other locomotives of this type were in service for up to 40 years.
