Here is another tip for Linux, *BSD, macOS, or Unix users. Sometimes your router, ISP, OS, or even a misconfiguration in dual-stack networking (IPv{4,6}) will use IPv4 or IPv6 instead of the desired protocol version. There is a simple way to tell commands (and services in a config file) to stick with IPv4 or IPv6 only by passing the -4 or -6 option. For example:

ping -4 domain-name # ping using IPv4 
ping -6 domain-name # ping using IPv6
