Where in the hell are the Alberta NDP?
Today, individuals need to order vaccines at an undisclosed cost, then book an appointment for their dose at a public health centre. And the Official Opposition is silent. They have also refused to support a referendum bid to keep Alberta in Canada - because it might look bad?
The UCP/TBA are bad enough but the silence is worse …

That's what people voted for when they voted for Nenshi: a business-friendly "centrist". The ABNDP may as well rebrand as the Alberta Liberal party.
@cthulku@mstdn.ca
True but , besides the point.
We have stopped getting involved in the politics of Alberta and that goes beyond the political leanings of the leader. I'm only hearing criticism of the UCP policies from an ex-Progressive Conservative MLA/interim leader and a professor from the University of Victoria (energy policy) but nothing from the Alberta Liberal Prty or the Alberta Party or anyone else.
It might be because of the media I use but if there is active resistance I'm missing it.
@CTHW@mstdn.ca
There absolutely isn't, and that's the point I was trying to make. Nenshi's not a wave-maker, at least not in this context. Why people thought he'd be a good head of a party in opposition to these goons will forever be beyond my ken.

Honestly, I joined the party to vote Nenshi in, excited that he'd unite the province for the next election. He's also my MLA now, in Strathcona. Sadly, he is NOT an effective opposition leader, preferring to remain silent, it seems.

It seems to me that whoever sets direction for the Alberta ND party has decided not making waves, nor being obviously progressive will get them votes. See the last two elections where rather than bragging about who we are, what we accomplished and what is best for the province, they ran a "Kennedy/UCP bad" campaign. Only Conservatives get elected not standing for anything except being Conservative …
While opposition parties can't force legislation, they can and MUST present critiques and alternatives to bad ideas.

The 5000 members of the TBA are running this province. It must be publicized and Premier Smith held accountable. Accepting the removal of the Premiers and cabinet ministers spending from public accounts does not do this.
