As #Trump continues to paint a hellish portrait of #DC, it’s worth remembering that he actually does not get out of the White House & into the city much. In his first term, Trump spent a lot of time at the Trump International Hotel in the city, but with that hotel now closed, Trump usually stays in the White House. If he ever ventures out it is in an armored vehicle “the beast” with an escort.

Keya Chatterjee, another of the group’s founders, announced the news of #Trump’s plans to the crowd, telling them about his intention to take #control of the city’s #police force & deploy the #NationalGuard.
The crowd booed loudly.
Chatterjee then announced one immediate plan: For every single day #DC is “under occupation,” she asked every DC resident to step out on their porch & make noise every night, at 8PM ET.
“We will not be cowed in the face of this bully,” she said. “We will organize.”
In a statement, Brian Schwalb, the elected attorney general of the District of Columbia, called the administration’s actions to take control of the city “unprecedented, unnecessary and unlawful.” He added, “We are considering all of our options and will do what’s necessary to protect the rights and safety of District residents.”
