@erik@mastodon.infrageeks.social I got sucked into a YouTube rabbit hole on EV conversions due to this post, and I'm not even mad.
This feels like the future; the real, sustainable future. Motors that can be powered by renewable energy rather than fossil fuels, but car bodies that can still be reassembled by some dude in his garage with a standard set of tools, and control systems that you can hack with yourself using your laptop.
I get some real sense of hope that we can extract ourselves from the horrors of automotive capitalism without losing independence. Return to a world where vehicles still exist, but are no longer consumer goods, but instead tools designed to last a lifetime, as long as you can find ways to repair and refit.
