It was futuristic looking then and even more futuristic looking now!

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space I’d rather have the future it was promising rather than the one we got with stupid humongous trucks and SUVs

@erik@mastodon.infrageeks.social last week as I was driving out of the Park Haus there was an SUV in front of me. It was so huge the driver struggled to put the ticket into the machine to get out, because the machine was so far below the drivers window! If anyone can tell me how such a vehicle is more convenient than my Fiat 500, given that modern A Segment superminis are almost the same sized as a medium sized car from the 70s I will be flabbergasted. If it is inconvenient to put a ticket into the ticket barrier machine, then your car is too big and not the machine too low!

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space Not to mention navigating indoor parking lots in France where you're practically guaranteed to scrape the bumpers on the tight turns. Plus the overhead restrictions-I had a rental that scraped the trunk against the ceiling when opened and it was an automatic trunk so I couldn't even just hold it open to the height I needed. πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

@erik@mastodon.infrageeks.social cars need to go on a diet

And roads need to be made much more pedestrian friendly, if not pedestrian only in town and city centres
