My father read, and I listened to, The Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. So I asked him if he ever ate in Automats, as they played a part in that book.
He remembered liking the chicken salad sandwichs and raspberry limeade.
This then started a discussion with his older neighbor if these were only in New York City, which was the consensus.
