I worked in claims processing for over a decade. It’s a massive problem, and even before AI was around, we looked for ways to identify patterns in the millions of incoming claims and route them appropriately for human review or automate the failure /approval process as accurately as possible.

I remember mentioning once in a meeting β€œwe could really do some good here, looking for patterns in regional health issue trends, or identifying procedures that seem to be most effective for a specific diagnosis.”

I was told there’s no profit in that, and too much red tape. Didn’t take long for me to move on after that.
