@octothorpe@mastodon.online our microwave not only beeps, but has a child lock. So every time it loses power, you must on first launch perform a series of steps to 1. set the time, 2. disable child lock, 3. disable beeps

Of course it beeps the whole time, every time you tap a button. Jail. Straight to jail.

@nuthatch@infosec.exchange a child lock?! Kids can’t fit inside a microwave, and they only turn on if the door is closed, so… what are we β€˜saving the children’ from???

This timeline is so dumb.

@octothorpe@mastodon.online it’s even better, if you mistakenly hit the β€œstart” button three times instead of the β€œseconds” button three times (1:30) it locks you out of the microwave until you hit some other magic key combo

These buttons are of course right atop each other, it’s super-easy to do this accidentally.

A wonderful experience when you’re not fully awake yet… β€œI wonder why we bought this microwave”
