Boosting... Specifically, your own posts.

Boosting your own post right away doesn't do anything useful.

Boosting your own post a few days later brings it back into the timeline for anyone who missed it the first time around.

But how about boosting your own reply? If a reply is also relevant outside of the discussion, is there any advantage to boosting it? Would more people see it? I mean boosts are not a part of the thread, but does that make any difference?

Once upon a time I thought yes, but later came to the opposite conclusion. I'm guessing you know the definitive answer.

The idea of boosting your own post or reply is to make it more visible to people in different timezones, or to highlight it days/weeks/months later.

Because the main Home timeline is chronological, posts tend to be seen in countries that are awake at that point. So, you might boost a post/reply e.g. 12 hours later to reach people in different countries.

If a reply has particularly useful info, you might boost it for the same reasons as a post.
