WD Valgardson, in The Girl With The Botticelli Face, on the difference between Americans & Canadians: “Americans make fewer rules & enforce them. Canadians make lotsa rules & don’t enforce them.”
I think that nail, it’s been struck squarely. Though now in Trump’s America, enforcement applies only to his opponents. Canadians still ignore their laws. They’re just an inconvenience for industry. They’re there only so government can say that we have laws to control, e.g., environmental rape & pillaging. Only mugs take them seriously.
