I tell the kids to imagine what they would use a time machine to go back and change to create a better future (today). Then, what a future them might come back to today to change to create a better future (tomorrow).
Then, after we have a sad moment that there are no magic time machines, we get down to doing whatever it was today for the sake of tomorrow.
