“They did it first, so we have no choice” is the simplest and most direct way to get most people to cross all kinds of moral lines that they think they have. Which is why the rhetorical propaganda about the left has been so wildly over the top, and reads from here as so much projection: because for every step in the program they want to do, they need to convince their base that the left has already crossed that line.

Incidentally, this is part of the reason the Epstein business doesn’t seem to phase a lot of republicans: they are sure that democrats went there first, and they already know their guy is a Very Bad Person, but having a Very Bad Person of your own is how you fight the Very Bad Person on the other side, right?
This theme encapsulated the core plot of a large percentage of the action movie industry (propaganda for the fascist movement imho) : the idea that it’s not only permissible but good and redemptive and laudable to do Very Bad Things as long as you do them to people prejudged to have been Very Bad People themselves.

Based on all the fear mongering, you would think that public washrooms are incredibly dangerous places for women, yet in my half century on this planet I can’t recall a single report of a sexual assault in a public washroom. Huh 🤔
In a home by someone the victim knew, yes (well over 50%)
In a workplace, yes
In a church, yes
… but in a public washroom? No.
Child in Calgary: dead.
Child in Spruce Grove: dead.
Killed by pickup trucks in their own neighbourhood.
Because the big oversized pickup truck with the aggressive front that you absolutely need because reasons that makes you feel big and powerful when you drive it doesn’t allow you to see in front of you.
So today’s pickup trucks kill people.
Today’s pickup trucks kill children.
When will your pickup kill someone?
Whose child will you pickup kill?
Perhaps you think it’s unlikely because you’re a ‘good driver’.
I’m sure the drivers who just killed children thought so too.
All while the governments of Alberta and Ontario are actively fighting cities that want to have protected bike lanes. Carnage is fine, as long as it’s done by cars and trucks.
