I'm proud of this series precisely because it asks different questions: not what do we gain from "enhanced intelligence" but what do we lose? What do we value in a world of hyper intelligence? What happens to creativity & art & souls when the bulk of humanity transforms into...something else.

The tagline felt like a weird attempt at explaining what the heck this series really was: The Legacy Human is the first in a philosophical hopepunk sci-fi series that explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world.
That hopepunk part is key.

You see, I got three books into writing this four-book series and... couldn't finish it. The story I wanted to tell didn't fit with the conventional story tools I had developed: I had to deconstruct the way I told stories to figure out how to tell this story.

And out of that came my hard-left turn into hopepunk storytelling... and eventually solarpunk.
