The American Beautyberry is known for bright purple berries late in the season, but its bundles of small pink flowers give it charm in the summer.
The berries are eaten by dozens of songbirds when other preferred foods have run out. The berries are a reason we have towhees, cardinals, thrashers, and mockingbirds in our garden.
