I wrote a post about Trust & Safety that I have been meaning to write for a while, but @caseynewton@mastodon.social wrote something recently that reminded me.

It acts as a useful mission statement for the advocacy organisation I am slowly creating, which I have talked about in a few interviews, but not gotten around to yet - The problems with C-PTSD and AuDHD in concert mean that everything comes at a glacial start :)

Exactly. Hey @caseynewton@mastodon.social, if you're looking for someone to speak out on trust and safety, you're obviously getting your searches wrong. @lorry@infosec.exchange had been all over the press and media for the last few months about the trust and safety failings at Match Group. Why are you not talking to him?

Didn't you just like my article about that yesterday, Jane?

I suspect that Casey had some conflict of interest with Yoel Roth about talking to me. Apparently, Yoel had a whole company town-hall about my article in the Guardian and told the company that T&S at Match was so much better now. This was the week after he fired the entire critical-safety team and most of the remaining safety staff, so I guess they didn't get to comment on a public statement that Karoline Leavitt would be proud of - When one of the remaining ones sent me the video of the town-hall, they weren't very polite.

They just hire people who will do the shit they ask for and will end up ultimately being used as a scapegoat, you'd have thought he'd have learned that lesson from Twitter though - But hey, the money is good, though the stock options are questionable :P

I have been very selective in who I talk to and their history of reporting - But even with those tiny organisations and 40 years doing this, suing a few companies, speaking out about more, you'd think I'd show up in any T&S whistleblower search - When I joined OkCupid the person who hired me half-jokingly said "I am only hiring you if you promise not to sue us!" so I guess my reputation was already set back in 2012 (and I promised not to sue them unless they turned shitty).

After this meeting I have in a few minutes I won't be talking to other journos for a while, so it's moot anyway.

@lorry@infosec.exchange Maybe not, but @caseynewton@mastodon.social could have talked to you before this meeting. Why is it that trust and safety seems to be so full of people saying all the right things and then not actually doing anything?

All of the action in the area is coming from the Africans, who are once again well ahead of the social use of the Internet curve, which is another thing that nobody ever reports on.

Meanwhile, in the west, we have crickets, and this:
