I was in my fifties when I finally realized that the law that you must not pass a school bus with its red lights flashing is because kids don’t always look before crossing the street.*
* No kids were harmed by my realization of this

I'm like ... ok, that's odd.
I recall general assembly days in elementary and middle school (in a small town) where we had to watch bus safety videos that showed all the ways kids can get squished by other cars or the bus itself.
