The outrage among the passengers was like when a German train was 1 hour or more late and you'd be stuck in some rural town without hotel over night. It was an interesting sight for me as a German...

The accuracy even lasted till the end of the 80s. But then the decline began, the routes were cut to pieces by the Kohl reign and never reinstalled.
I remember you could even get special trains for school trips in the 80s and it was no problem for the the whole train schedule.
