We're looking out from under a canopy of green, to where the path opens out into the old quarry. It's dusty and rocky, with a path through a bunch of jagged and unstable rocks Back in the forest, a dirt path through a canopy of green

Every time I stop to think about the work that goes into trails like this, I'm just flabbergasted.

@dillyd@turtleisland.social @gecole@universeodon.com In my ignorance, I never even thought about how trails come into being, about all the design and work that lies behind them, until I heard a fascinating account on 99% Invisible. Kudos to all the unseen unsung people making and maintaining trails for the rest of us to enjoy, while still protecting nature.
