In the Brownies they told us to never hide under tress in a storm because of lightning. As a grumpy middle-aged woman, I like sitting in the branches of tress during storms. I have yet to be struck by lightning.

@fesshole@mastodon.social When lightning hits tress [trees] the water inside can boil instantly, rapidly expanding into steam, exploding the tree and sending shards of wood towards you at high-speed.
You don't have to be under the tree for it to kill you.
