I have been at this company for 10 years. In a small company, long-serving employees often take on tasks only tangentially related to their official roles. I have stepped in as an interim comms person because that job at my company is like the drummer for Spinal Tap.
I had to defend my actions today because I helped the current comms specialist send out a mass email. I have to massage a spreadsheet of new customers since the last time I did it by adding tags, formatting the columns, etc. Manual and time consuming because we don’t have an overarching ERP & CRM.
New Boss: “Isn’t that a marketing role?”
Me: 🙄
