It's a touch overstocked, but I'm cool with that 😆

But yeah, if the nitrite and ammonia levels aren’t going down with frequent big water changes then it’s upgrade time. That’s the other reason I miss my big marine tank, it needed surprisingly little filtration for the amount of livestock in it because the bio-cycle was just so well balanced.

@jpm@aus.social nah, the water chemistry is ok (I test every few days with strips), it's just not keeping on top of particulate matter, which is always a problem with river fish. They produce a lot of shit, and it's very very fine.

Marine has other expenses that we won't get into, so it all balances out 😂

Protein skimmers, dosing setups, and just those damn lights!

At least you don't have to worry as much about "ammonia spikes" with marine

And lol yeah metal-halide lights back in the day, looked beautiful but were so damn power-hungry.
