@Dr_Bombay@mstdn.social I’ve been voting in every election I could since 2006 and I think they’re right. There are no parties that represent my beliefs, only one that comes anywhere close. Its best showing ever was second place. I’ll keep voting because imo it’s a civic duty, but no part of me believes it’s going to make my life any better.

@aapis@mastodon.world BUT, if you don’t vote, then that’s the problem. Kids not voting are making the problem worse. Not voting is not a cure, it’s surrender.

@Dr_Bombay@mstdn.social depends on how much faith you have in democracy, I suppose. I think I have a few responsibilities to my community, voting being one of them. Some countries don’t let you have time off to vote, are single parents surrendering to fascism because they don’t have time? In my country, some indigenous people don’t vote because they reject white rule and its institutions. Some people can’t vote because a cop found a joint on them once 15 years ago. Are they all villains? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
