Why is #Canada airdropping food into Gaza?

There are plenty of options to just let food into Gaza, if the Israeli govt. would allow it.

The Israeli military is allowing the airdrops. They are not deliveries through hostile airspace against a non-cooperating Israeli military

I'm really questioning why Canada should be participating in this public relations exercise.

Escort a 1000-ton ground convoy, and dare the IDF to shoot.

@johnefrancis@cosocial.ca I want to see Turkey send their navy to Gaza to deliver food and medicine, daring Israel into an attack that would invoke NATO's Article 5.

@rjohnston@mstdn.ca @johnefrancis@cosocial.ca NATO article 5 applies only to attacks on the territory of the merger countries themselves. Attacks on members' military excursions into other countries' territories aren't covered - otherwise a NATO country could invade a peaceful neighbour, and then when that neighbour defends itself, call on the rest of the alliance for help invading.

@dragonfrog@mastodon.sdf.org @johnefrancis@cosocial.ca Does it not cover naval vessels in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean? Looking at recent history, Israel would attack in international waters.
