Huh. It actually works. Imagine literally any piece of electro-waste from today still working in 50 years after you resolder a missing trace or pin back on. #retrocomputing

Standard C64 READY screen in BASIC after the ROM was resoldered. White border on blue screen with white text “Commodore 64 basic v2 64k ram 38911 basic bytes free READY”.

The white blinking cursor waits for commands.

Original BASIC ROM back in its socket with a suspiciously bad pin soldered back onto pin 12.

Functional keyboard with broken keyboard screw mounts. Did someone throw this across the room when it destructed? #retrocomputing

Right side, top view of the a C64 keyboard in the case . The right top most mounts have been cracked and shattered. Still intact and can be epoxied.

Inside view of the broken alley board screw mounts. Right most is fully separated (around the function keys). The next screw mount is only cracked.

#commodore64 PAL conversion in progress. At this point, if you have a dead NTSC VIC, the USD $2 crystal oscillator and a PAL VICII from Europe is your best bet. #retrocomputing

VICII socket (empty) next to the jumper for PAL/NTSC that has been moved to the PAL position. A crystal oscillator has been removed and sits atop the empty VICII socket. The new oscillator sits in its place on the board.

Superb. Needed to adjust the color pot slightly to bring the color signals into spec for PAL. #retrocomputing
