Violence erupts at the Zoot Suit Riots, Los Angeles (1943)

As a man is seemingly trying to break the passenger window on a car, another man confronts him with a bat or club as others in the skirmish crowd nearby, including men in armed services uniforms.

Mostly young Mexican-Americans were attacked by soldiers and sailors stationed in southern California, angry that what they saw as their excessively flaunting clothing flouted wartime rationing.

@sk76@mastodon.ie hmm, not sure that meets the definition of a zoot suit. Normally it requires big baggy trousers and a large oversized jacket that goes almost to the knees.
