Introduction Post
I realized I don't have a pinned #introduction post! So here we go:

I'm Julie! I live in the Portland, Oregon area with my partner and school age kids. We moved here from Cleveland, Ohio in 2023 because Ohio wants #trans people like me dead.

I work in #cybersecurity for a living but the stuff I do to escape real life are far more interesting than that.

My middle name is Merida because she's who I want to be when I grow up! I've even started learning #archery. I'm not great at it, but it sure is fun.

I enjoy playing #Pathfinder, a #TTRPG, with my friends and family, which gives me an opportunity to pretend to be my woodland elf thief, @ryel@characters.cafe, who absolutely is not just me with pointy ears and no consequences. Currently trying to write a YA fantasy novel about the elf, too!

I got my #HamRadio license in 2022 and enjoy working digital modes like FT8, PSK31, and occasionally analog and digital voice modes. I upgraded my license to General in spring of 2023.

I've ridden too many #RollerCoasters and love #ThemeParks. I don't get to travel and ride nearly as much as I used to.

I've gotten involved in #CommunityTheater again after over two decades absent and it's been amazing. I have experience both on tech and on stage.

I'm sure people think I "should" act like more of a grownup but I'm really not interested. I lost a lot of time pretending to be someone I wasn't so now I'm going to spend my time being who I want to be. If that means acting like I'm a cartoon princess flinging arrows in the woods or pretending to be an adorable queer elf stabbing monsters in the butt that's what I'm going to do and I'll do it proudly.
