A weirdo mum who may be a forest princess and/or woodland elf. #RollerDerby dork, #Cybersecurity professional, theme park fan, beginner archer, #Pathfinder nerd, #Elfkin#Otherkin, #HamRadio operator (KE8URJ). My middle name is Merida and I've made it everyone's problem and my entire personality. Usually a girl, sometimes a Ditto.
Genocide is bad, trans kids need protected, billionaires need taxed, Black lives matter even if you think they don't.

You know what, my old character did a great job getting me to where I am today. I don't play him anymore, but I'll always remember him. I've still got his journals and stuff so I can reflect on all the things I did as him- some of it was pretty cool. He dealt with a lot of hard stuff.
When my human ranger hit level 40 he realized he couldn't adventure anymore. The party gave him a nice farewell dinner and thanked him for all the adventures they had together before he set off into the woods to retire.
The next session they ran into a rogue who, coincidentally, was the ranger's twin sister. She said, "So you're the party I've heard so much about? I hear you have an opening." They welcomed her into the party and it was like she had always been there.
The party will always remember the adventures they had with the ranger, but the new adventures with the rogue have been pretty awesome so far.
My new character is a lot of fun to play and I relate to her in ways I never could relate to her brother the ranger. They have a lot in common, sure, but the new one just feels more right.

Introduction Post I realized I don't have a pinned #introduction post! So here we go:
I'm Julie! I live in the Portland, Oregon area with my partner and school age kids. We moved here from Cleveland, Ohio in 2023 because Ohio wants #trans people like me dead.
I work in #cybersecurity for a living but the stuff I do to escape real life are far more interesting than that.
My middle name is Merida because she's who I want to be when I grow up! I've even started learning #archery. I'm not great at it, but it sure is fun.
I enjoy playing #Pathfinder, a #TTRPG, with my friends and family, which gives me an opportunity to pretend to be my woodland elf thief, @ryel@characters.cafe, who absolutely is not just me with pointy ears and no consequences. Currently trying to write a YA fantasy novel about the elf, too!
I got my #HamRadio license in 2022 and enjoy working digital modes like FT8, PSK31, and occasionally analog and digital voice modes. I upgraded my license to General in spring of 2023.
I've ridden too many #RollerCoasters and love #ThemeParks. I don't get to travel and ride nearly as much as I used to.
I've gotten involved in #CommunityTheater again after over two decades absent and it's been amazing. I have experience both on tech and on stage.
I'm sure people think I "should" act like more of a grownup but I'm really not interested. I lost a lot of time pretending to be someone I wasn't so now I'm going to spend my time being who I want to be. If that means acting like I'm a cartoon princess flinging arrows in the woods or pretending to be an adorable queer elf stabbing monsters in the butt that's what I'm going to do and I'll do it proudly.
ACAB, eat the rich, billionaires are violence, support your local library and bookstore, protect trans kids, free Palestine
[Most appropriate edit ever: Oh yeah, I also have #ADHD, probably #AuDHD ]
