Let's stop pretending that every action we take that is aligned with our beliefs is also easy.

Sure, in some cases it is easy, and also definitely don't be a weird martyr about it, but sour-grapesing
everything you boycott isn't helpful or a signifier of whatever ideological purity you're chasing.

It also enables the type of people who twist "no ethical consumption under capitalism" to mean "if trying to do better makes me slightly uncomfortable or inconvenienced, I will simply not try."

@Sharksonaplane@mastodon.sandwich.net on that note: I've been boycotting Amazon for 5+ years, and surprisingly there have been maybe 2-3 times where it's been more than mildly inconvenient. One was when I was gifted a Ring device and had to ask to exchange it bc I didn't want Amazon systems in my home, bit awkward. But the rest of the time it's just a bit of extra friction.

For reference, at least 2.5 of those years I was living in the US, and 3 in the Netherlands.
