I know I'm nobody here. Nor I want to be anybody. But I need to say this.
These past few days I have been reading and not saying anything because I didn't want to add to the noise. But now I feel called out. I feel I have a duty.
I am a white person with strong convictions about what's right, and this must be said as many times as necessary, and by as many people as necessary.
When we as white people are called out as racists, even if, or especially when, we consider ourselves to be firmly situated against racism, either individually or collectively, the right thing for us to do is stop, listen, think, and act accordingly.
Admit they are right. Just give non-white people their due. Step aside. Shut up! For once. Reflect. For once.
This situation of permanent, constant, relentless, structural, normalized racism has lasted more than enough. Things need to change. And it's us, white people, who have to change them, because it's us who made them this unbearably wrong in the first place. No one else. Not "society". Not "history". Not "some other people". Not "rich people". Not "cis people". Us, all of us.
These oppressive and cruel structures are of our own doing.
It's time to tear them apart.
For good.
