Moving to the north was one of those life changing decisions that I tend to make on a whim. I liked the idea of living in the north, but I had no idea what I would discover. They say they have eight seasons up here, and I've always wondered what the time between fall and winter (which I'd count from first snowfall that stays) could look like. This is a color photo of it during the golden hour. We have not had any permanent snowfall yet, but the landscape has frozen.

At a first glance, the landscape seems covered in snow, and the trees look like parts of them have been airbrushed with snow. A closer look shows that the white looks more like it's growing around each individual blade of grass in the foreground. A narrow dirt road passes a small house and continues downwards, the tree line following its slope. It's impossible to see beyond the treeline despite the high vantage point due to a foggy haze that covers the tops of the fir trees at the bottom, and quickly gets denser to blend with the sky.
