I really like Yan LeCunβ€˜s Siren Song analogy. GenAI, mediocrity combined with hidden promises and ads can turn an entire generation into babbling idiots. Including their government.

Indirect advertising will be possible. Why not market NBA subscriptions and sports bets to a person asking an AI bot about fitness?

Imho #AI models are only possible with

* Annas Archive
* StackOverflow DB
* Wikipedia
* ...

I believe piracy is the key enabler because like all Machine Learning, Transformer Networks depend on the training data.

claude-code isn't too busy to fix security bugs.

Open-source development is an exhausting job. We should have an Open-Source Maintainer's day.

(Not for me ;) )

I do believe staring at screens will be a job for the future generation.

People want this.
#daytraders love staring at screens. #vibecoding , #Youtube . People love it. It's where the money is.

There is an entire line of professionals who want to persuade you that you should do this. Instead of having a life.

The cusum filter from #mlfinpy works as well as mlfinlab. Ok, same idea, probably very similar code...

I am using this with plotext for a
#quant tool with fast workflows. Looking at quarterly or longer data.

People have emotional attachments to GPT-4o?! Bro... we live in a weird future.

This makes my day.
#OpenAI says, "Sure, get your friend back. For 20 Dollars..."

I have realized this new trend of having emotional attachments to pixels. I believe it's all real btw.. Like dreams and feelings, all part of the same reality.

The issue I have with this is that no one calls self-hosted models their buddy.

Today I studied a cooking manual for a curry sausage. Ok, for the sauce. Still... like an idiot.

Could have asked ChatGPT. :)

Ahhh, these are the guys who want you to reverse engineer
#nvidia drivers.

You can also find Chinese custom Nvidia models in low-end mini PCs on AMZN. Often with fewer shader units and more RAM, because the chips have been used in
#crypto miners.

Technically I find this fascinating, of course. But on an interpersonal level it also doesn't look like these people do any harm here.

I think AI GPU embargos are stupid. Especially from a supply-chain, driver security, and development perspective.

Honestly. this "we can make one right now" is missing from the West.

We should be able to do this as well. Instead of using fancy MacBooks, we should have a workbench.
