Since quitting Twitter in 2022 I've found less work as a copy-editor/proofreader. It wasn't my main source, but it led to regular enquiries and drove traffic to my website + blog. Work gaps are more frequent now.
I don't regret leaving Twitter, not even a little. But I have noticed the effect on my modest, freelance income. Which is not easy in an expensive country (Ireland) with a cost-of-living crisis.

I quit Twitter in 2022 when Musk took over. I was part of some good, active communities there, especially in editing, book, and linguistics circles.
Conversations had been getting hard to muster even pre-Musk. The vibe had soured, and when the takeover happened I was done.
Mastodon appealed and immediately seemed much more positive, friendly, and authentic. It still does.
