So, I did a bad thing, and, yet again, it turned out good.

I was sick of watching the male harlequin rasboras pick each other off, one by one, in the female plakat tank - the school started at 12, and dwindled to 4 males, and one female, then they killed the female.

As any aquirists does, we try not to actively kill healthy animals, but more, encourage our bigger fish to have a snack. It sounds cruel, but I just didn't want to watch them die one by one.

Apparently a slow flow planted tank was what was triggering this, because as soon as I chucked them in the big tank, they've schooled up with the danios. Not only that, the cichlids are just as disinterested in the rasboras as they were with the danios, so I now have a school of constantly terrified fish that are in no danger of being eaten

I did get my hair cut today, at Oxygen Barbers. 100% Arab awesomeness. Did my mohawk right, got the hot towel treatment, and they even did the sides in 0.5 rather than a 1 I usually get.

Yes, the best barbers in the world are still Arab barbers. The service is next level, to the point that I don't think women get how good it is.

They start by offering a drink - tea, coffee, soft drink, beer - and then spend their time working. Little chat, just work. Toward the end the smells come in. Apple, strawberry, musks, it's a haze of greatness.

Then they do the hot towels, the massage, and "do you need a shave". If you accept, you will get the best shave you've ever had, all done with straight razors.

The end is a spritz of cologne at the counter

but, a good demonstration of male vs female in silver dollars. Size helps, but mainly it's anal fin colour and shape.

Males have a clear, paddle-like anal fin (top of the two at the front), and the females have a red, hook-shaped anal fin (bottom at the front).

The females are bigger, yes.

And if you want to know what they feel like: jelly. They love to brush up against me when I clean the tank
