The new filter is doing wonders for the big tank

A photo of my big fish tank. There's two species of silver dollar swimming in the foreground (m.hypsauchen and spotted silver dollar). A white sandy bottom, some Texas holey stone, and driftwood is visible. A few harlequin rasboaras are visible at the top of frame

Yes, they are big. The biggest one, at the back, is about the size of a lunch plate

but, a good demonstration of male vs female in silver dollars. Size helps, but mainly it's anal fin colour and shape.

Males have a clear, paddle-like anal fin (top of the two at the front), and the females have a red, hook-shaped anal fin (bottom at the front).

The females are bigger, yes.

And if you want to know what they feel like: jelly. They love to brush up against me when I clean the tank
