merely rhysAlright, less than an hour to go before the planned arrests and I'm in Parliament Square. It's quiet so far, but I was chatting to some folks on the tube who got off at St James Park who said there is a march planned beforehand, but I'm not interested in shooting that.
I've also had some gins and tonic with some elderly ladies at a pub nearby who are making a day of it so I'm going to have a hoot today.

merely rhysIt's obviously wrong to suggest #Ukraine must surrender its territory to Russia, rewarding their aggression and legitimising military conquest and annexation, but I'd suggest land for peace would be a vastly different proposition if NATO membership were assured. Shifting a border has proven they'll invade across borders would be intolerable on its own.
I am curious to see what comes out of this though. Is the idea that Ukraine gets Crimea back?

merely rhysLand for peace is a legitimate way to pursue peace and has worked numerous times. Not with Putin's Russia though. It's simply and plainly not viable with a country that doesn't recognise the legitimacy, independence, and right to self-determination of states that aren't their own.

merely rhysI also think that if we're going to have these elements of authoritarianism in society then they should hand out guns to good citizens like me and allow me to summarily execute people who undermine the sanctity of the quiet carriage.
"Let's go to the carriage where everyone is respectful enough to each other to remain quiet; we can have a good conversation there! Sure, bring your screaming child too!"
merely rhysIf people are going to advocate for Palestine Action's crimes to be legal then I feel like I should be allowed to advocate for the crime of murdering people who ruin the quiet carriage to be not only legal but also encouraged. Incentivised, even. A bounty for the scalp of each quiet carriage–talker you murder.
