Ross of OttawaHad a butternut squash sitting there but not getting used for the last week or two, so I cubed and roasted it on the weekend. Just turned it into #soup this morning and am trying it now.
It's carrots, ginger, cabbage and squash. Very rich and tasty! Great with a bit of sour cream.
Quite thick too. I could probably stretch it with a bit more broth or water and it'll still be tasty.

I've got a fish pond to empty out still, so I'd best make that happen shortly.

Ross of OttawaGiven my many decades living here, my rule of thumb is that November 23 is the risk threshold date for winter. It feels like after that date there's a substantial risk that any snow will stay for the season.
Practically this means you can skip shoveling the earlier snowfalls, letting them melt, but by Nov23 if you do that, you risk it becoming an icy layer that fights you for the next three months.

Ross of OttawaEnd of the afternoon after a tough slog all afternoon. Spent the whole time on my knees in the attic fitting plywood into place and I'm pretty beat, but it's more sane up there now, and the insulation is improved.
Cats want food but I'll tell them it's another clock change and they'll probably believe it if I can keep them from looking it up on Wikipedia.
